Besides providing classroom facilities, media and checkout equipment, the CLA Language Center offers a number of resources to language instructors to help them use technology effectively in their language teaching. The LC instructional staff includes four Departmental Liaisons who spend half of their time at the Language Center and half in their home department. Liaisons represent French & Italian, German, Scandinavian & Dutch, Spanish & Portuguese and Asian Languages and Literatures.
Other programs include the iTeach Workshop series and wiki, summer institutes and semester-long LgTT courses. Please note additional resources cited below.
Development, instruction, and consultation services available to help with multimedia development. Contact the LC Technical Coordinator: Diane Rackowski to set up an appointment. Visit the Multimedia Dev Studio page for more information.
TandemPlus is a Language Center program that can assist you and/or your students in finding conversation partners. Students can sign up individually for a partner here on campus, or we can direct them to resources for finding a distance partner.
TandemPlus can also help you get started with a class-to-class exchange by finding a partner class, suggesting activities, and helping you with technology such as the Wimba voice tools, should you wish to incorporate those into an exchange. Please e-mail tandem@umn.edu or call 612-626-6050 with questions.
