Multimedia Lab

Students may use language-related computer programs and view class-assigned videotapes and DVDs in the Language Center Multimedia Lab (Jones 135). Check the Open Lab Hours for walk-in viewing. Use the online Lab Reservation System (LRS) to reserve a computer, VCR or DVD player.

In the lab you'll find both Mac and Windows computers with Internet access, foreign and second language software, video and DVD viewing stations and access to International Satellite programming.

Small rooms are available for small group viewing of video programming, recording to digital audio recorder and access to computers with development software.

TandemPlus

TandemPlus is a Language Center program that can assist you and/or your students in finding conversation partners. Students can sign up individually for a partner here on campus, or we can direct them to resources for finding a distance partner.

TandemPlus can also help you get started with a class-to-class exchange by finding a partner class, suggesting activities, and helping you with technology such as the Wimba voice tools, should you wish to incorporate those into an exchange. Audio/Video

Students may use 135B and 137A to make audio recordings to fulfill course assignments. Small groups may use 135B to view video. These facilities can be used on a walk-in basis, dependent on availability.

To fulfill course assignments students may check out video camcorders for use in Jones Hall. ASL students can use the video recording set-up in Jones 105A. Mac computers in the Multimedia Lab, Jones 135, have built-in cameras and are suitable for limited recording purposes.

All lab computers, both Windows and Mac in the Multimedia Lab have USB headsets with microphones and allow recording with the Wimba Voice Tools.
